  Green Building

Phase I of Prop O construction addresses nine of the oldest schools in the district. These schools will each be receiving repairs and renovations, which incorporate sustainability and green building practices.

The Board of Trustees of Sweetwater Union High School District has laid the ground work for a long term vision of the environmental and economic impact of the District facilities by adopting Board Resolution No. 3794.  The resolution directs that green building practices be employed where possible during the Prop O bond construction program. The adopted resolution along with the commitment to the green building movement has resulted in the largest green building program of a school district in the state of California.  No other school district in the state of California has nine LEED certified projects in design.

Prop O works closely with the U.S. Green Building Council and has a dedicated team of LEED professionals that specialize in sustainability design to ensure that they succeed in fulfilling the vision outlined by the Board of Trustees.
